The 'Conchita Effect' causes a bookings boom for Austrian hotels

Following the success of 'Bearded Lady' Conchita Wurst in this year's Eurovision Song Contest, has experienced a 28% increase in room night bookings to hotels in Austria.

The year-on-year surge in the week following the Eurovision final has been attributed by the hotel specialists to the 'Conchita Effect'.

Lynda Matthews, Head of Marketing at commented: 'Conchita's runaway success at this year's Eurovision certainly seems to have boosted Austria's popularity as a short break destination. Visitors are sure to enjoy the country's rich culture and the diverse attractions to be found in cities like Vienna and Salzburg.
