Karma Royal Group enlists Nicky Haslam to streamline resorts interiors

In a step to confirm its brand’s increasing emphasis on sophistication and glamour, style and design, Karma Royal Group has announced that the group has enlisted celebrated English interior designer Nicky Haslam to streamline the overall look of the group’s Karma Resort properties.

Mr. Haslam’s first project with Karma involved the refurbishment of Le Preverger, the magnificent former estate of the late British designer Laura Ashley in the medieval French village of La Garde-Freinet. Set on 150 picturesque acres of woods, olive groves and vineyards, just 13 miles from St-Tropez, Le Preverger is considered one of the jewels of the French Riviera, purchased in late 2012 by Karma Royal Group Chairman and CEO John Spence and added to his Karma Royal Group global portfolio of exclusive private enclaves. Completed in 2013, the refurbishment project encompassed the estate’s four-bedroom main chateau, including the creation and curation of a new library overseen by Ultimate Library, the bespoke library service founded by English entrepreneur Philip Blackwell, and eventually included the updating of the estate’s gardens and grounds, five-bedroom guest villa, four-bedroom coach house and two-bedroom pool house.

“ Nicky Haslam’s work on Le Preverger is a ravishing testament to his unique, incredible taste and style. In modernizing the property whilst paying tribute to the heritage and provenance of the house, he has succeeded beyond expectation in making Le Preverger an outstanding example of interior design. It was this hallmark of success that cemented the path to our present collaboration, for we believe that Nicky Haslam’s vibrant expressions of visual style is a perfect match with the Karma brand,” said John Spence, Chairman and Founder of Karma Royal Group. “ Nicky Haslam’s vision appeals to the adventurous free spirit in all of us, the wandering bon vivant with a hint of rebelliousness emerging from a cocoon of luxury and worldly glamour. His interiors can be a canvas of the Karma brand DNA and so, I am extremely exhilarated by this ongoing relationship. ”

“ It is extremely exciting to be involved with the Karma Royal Group and experiencing John Spence’s breadth of vision firsthand, “ said Mr. Haslam. “ The worldwide scope of the projects we are undertaking together is fascinating from the design point of view. The varied locations must have a shared theme, but each its own unique and memorable atmosphere unique to the setting. Our aim is to ensure that guests feel they are as much ‘at home’ while at the same time luxuriating in the rare and beautiful surroundings of each Karma Resort. ”

Mr. Haslam’s most immediate projects with Karma Royal Group involve interior design conceptualization, planning and execution for the group’s new resorts in Goa, India and in Bali, Indonesia on a site located next to Karma Kandara. He is also spearheading the completion of refurbishments for Karma Bavaria, a ski lodge and spa retreat in picturesque Schliersee in the Bavarian region of Germany, for Pelikanos, a luxurious beachfront villa estate on the Greek island of Mykonos, as well as Le Preverger, the magnificent chateau in the Cote D’Azur once owned by French actress Jeanne Moreau and English designer Laura Ashley.
