World’s largest Holiday Inn celebrates 2nd anniversary and caps off a year of awards

Holiday Inn Macao, Cotai Central, the largest Holiday Inn in the world celebrated its second anniversary this week  with a number of fun activities for its team members and special treats for hotel guests. As part of the integrated resort development Sands® Cotai Central, which also celebrated its second anniversary, the hotel marked two years of growth and accolades for the property and is proud to have welcomed just over 1.25 million guests since it first opened in April 2012.

Earlier this year Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central received the Forbes Travel Guide Four Star Rating, the only Holiday Inn in the world to receive this accolade.  Just recently the hotel was also awarded Macao Green Hotel Award from the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Macao SAR Government in recognition for the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and environmental best practices.  In addition the hotel was named ‘Best Hotel Brand’ by Beijing Youth Group Daily 2014 Readers’ Choice Tourism Awards.

The hotel also continues its local fund raising effort for Project Hope, which IHG leads at a regional level, supporting the under privileged in China’s provinces. As part of its Green Engage initiatives, the hotel also distinguished itself in 2013 by being the first in the IHG family to join the Earth Hour, Every Month movement, currently supported by 20 Macao hotels, along with a growing number of hotels worldwide – all of which are turning off their exterior façades and non-essential indoor lighting for one hour each month in support of energy conservation.

As part of Sands Cotai Central, Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central will also be a focal point for the Race with the Stars 2 event which will be held on Friday, April 18.  The event will see a cast of celebrities from Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China race to compete various challenges at Holiday Inn’s Pool Deck and The Lounge in order to win prizes for their teams.   Hotel guests and visitors can watch and cheer for their favourite celebrity.
