The Peninsula New York joins The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt

The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt 2014, Peter Max egg
The Peninsula New York has partnered with The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, an innovative and engaging fundraising initiative that will see over 250 large egg sculptures – each designed by globally renowned artists, designers and creatives - placed throughout New York City’s five boroughs from April 1 to 26, 2014.

With not one, but two eggs, The Peninsula New York has teamed up with artists Peter Max and Marsha Meredith. Max calls upon his recognizable use of vibrant colors harking contemporary culture; whereas Meredith pays homage to the New York City skyline. The Max egg will rest in the lobby of the hotel where Meredith’s Skyline Egg will be an added pop of fun to the top of one of the MINI Cooper S. Clubman as it scoots around the city.

Peter Max
With his paintings on exhibition in hundreds of museums and galleries worldwide, Peter Max and his deliberate use of bright colors and focus on modern-day subjects have helped him to achieve his place in history having painted for various Heads of State, including six U.S. Presidents. When conceptualizing the egg, Max said, “it’s a beautiful feminine shape that gives life in nature, so I approached this large Fabergé egg as a canvas to paint a feminine profile and heart surrounded by a harmonious blend of spring colored brushstrokes.”

Marsha Meredith
An Australian artist, heavily influenced by street art and Peter Pan, Marsha Meredith brings a restrained urban edge front and center with her Skyline Egg. Meredith says that “New York drips with energy, optimism and possibilities. The city's distinctive skyline belongs to everyone. It's a magical sight, especially by night. That is why so many of us keep coming back, and call it home.”

The general public will be encouraged to participate by finding all of the eggs through a customized App available on both the iPhone and Android phones, with incredible gemstone prizes from Fabergé serving as an incentive. The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt will culminate with a spectacular auction of the collectible and one-of-a-kind egg sculptures, held by Sotheby’s and online via Paddle8.

Created as an innovative and engaging platform to raise funds for Elephant Family and other non-profits, The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt caused a frenzy in London in 2012, set two Guinness World Record titles and ultimately raised over $1.5 million for charity. The 2014 hunt in New York will benefit both Elephant Family and Studio in a School.
