Changing face of meetings space in avant-garde RotterdamThe NH Hotel Group has opened its third nhow hotel. Located in the avant-garde Dutch city of Rotterdam, it is the first hotel designed by renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and is located in Europe’s largest building – De Rotterdam – which consists of three towers arranged on a plinth and has been described as a ‘vertical city’.
The four star hotel combines design, art and architecture and has 278 rooms across 23 floors as well as nine meeting rooms, a skyline bar, restaurant and rooftop terrace with spectacular views of the river.
The dramatic architecture of the building is complemented by internal features including video walls and contemporary art pieces. A major feature of the hotel will be a rolling display of art by local artists, up-and-coming talent and celebrated designers, reflecting their own views of Rotterdam.
For meeting planners, the nhow Rotterdam offers a wide choice of flexible function rooms. The modern and practical conference centre includes nine rooms located on the sixth floor of the hotel – all with plenty of natural light and stunning views of Rotterdam’s rivers and harbour. With the most up-to-date audio visual equipment available, the rooms can cater from 30 people up to 250 in banquet, square, reception, school, theatre, U shape and cabaret set ups.
The hotel is located in the area known as “Manhattan along the Maas”, a vibrant artistic area filled with museums, restaurants as well as the famous Luxor Theatre, providing meeting organisers and planners with a surfeit of choices when planning itineraries outside of a conference or event in the hotel.
Commenting on the new hotel, Sander Creemers, General Manager nhow Rotterdam said: “This is an exciting hotel development not only for NH Hotel Group but for the nhow brand and the city of Rotterdam. Each nhow hotel has its very own personality derived from the city in which it is located. nhow Rotterdam is set to become a focal point for locals as well as for companies based in Rotterdam, Holland and internationally looking for an exciting, dynamic and different venue to hold their meetings, conferences and events.”
There are two other nhow hotels in Europe, in Milan and Berlin. nhow Milan, designed by Matteo Thun and Daniele Beretta, combines fashion and design whilst nhow Berlin, designed by Sergei Tehoban and decorated by Karim Rashid, focusses on the themes of music and design. nhow is the lifestyle brand of the NH Hotel Group and defines a new generation of hotels: unconventional and cosmopolitan, it offers a previously unseen level of hospitality and aims to become the benchmark for the most innovative cultural, social and artistic movements in big cities.
