Lights, Camera, Asia: Photograph Cambodia
 at La Résidence d’Angkor

Angkor Photo Adventure’
La Résidence d'Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia, has partnered with local experts to offer a range of tailored photography itineraries, designed to help guests capture the region’s diverse landscapes and natural beauty.
An intimate Khmer-style hotel in the heart of Siem Reap, La Résidence d'Angkor lies in a tropical garden that encloses a swimming pool and lotus ponds. When not out exploring, guests can unwind in the relaxing spa and swimming pool.

The ‘Angkor Photo Adventure’ package includes a full-day excursion with a professional photographer and a three-day pass to the nearby Angkor temple complex, home to the world-famous Angkor Wat temple. Back at the hotel, budding amateurs are shown how to edit their images using the latest software.

Each package itinerary is tailored to guests’ individual needs, allowing them to photograph different aspects of Cambodia’s vibrant culture. Exclusive land, water and air-based add-ons* include an elephant ride beside the Siem Reap River, a helicopter flight for a bird’s-eye view of Angkor Wat and a bicycle tour along the town’s tree-lined boulevards, stopping to admire charming 19th-century French architecture along the way.

A sample itinerary begins with a longboat tour of Kompong Phuk, a stilted water village on the edge of Tonle Sap, south-east Asia’s largest lake. Guests will get a glimpse of village life as their guide points out flora and fauna along the banks. After a picnic lunch there’s a private kayaking tour of the eerie Floating Forest, where guests can capture shots of partly submerged trees reflected in the water. Other ‘Kodak moments’ include the vibrant produce and brightly dressed stallholders at bustling local markets.

Carla Petzold-Beck, General Manager of La Résidence d'Angkor, says: “We can offer experiential travellers access to unspoilt landscapes that they wouldn’t find on their own, working with highly skilled photographers to provide guests with camera tuition, advice on shooting angles and tips of the trade during the editing process.”

Among the experts available for the ‘Angkor Photo Adventure’ package is award-winning fine art photographer John McDermott, whose latest exhibition ‘Spirit and Stone’ is on display in the hotel’s Martini Bar until 31st March.

The ‘Angkor Photo Adventure’ package is priced from £845 for two nights with breakfast.
