A fresh look for the Taj Samudra, Colombo hotel 

Taj Samudra, Colombo re-opened its doors in November 2013 after an extensive $20 (£12.2) million renovation by renowned interior designer David Edwards. Overlooking the historic Galle Face Green and offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, the hotel is strategically located in Sri Lanka’s business hub, close to the vibrant city centre.

Taj Samudra has introduced brand new Taj Club Rooms and renovated suites, all with elegant wood flooring, decorated in light shades and equipped with modern amenities. Taj Club guests can enjoy exclusive access to the Taj Club Lounge featuring business facilities, conference rooms and library. The Presidential Suite has also been restored offering more space and contemporary design features.

The hotel offers an array of dining experiences including Yumi, a chic resto-bar with Japanese food, perfect for a vibrant soiree. Guests can also feast on North Indian delicacies at Navratna, Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine at Golden Dragon or exquisite continental food coupled with fine wine at Steak & Grill House. For a full immersion into the land of Ceylon Tea, Lattice offers guests a selection of Sri Lanka’s finest blends of teas and coffee.Taj Samudra’s facilities also include a shopping arcade, beauty salon, pool bar, fitness centre, floodlit tennis courts, a squash court and a trendy nightclub.
