Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht celebrates first anniversary

Just a year ago, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht opened its doors in the vibrant centre of Amsterdam, and as the first Andaz hotel in continental Europe, it immediately made its mark.  The winner of the Dutch GaultMillau Award “Hotel of the Year 2014” transformed the site of the former public library into a quirky and inspiring meeting place where international travellers, lovers of art and design, and connoisseurs gather daily.

With a highly personalised, uncomplicated service and adventurous design concept, reflecting a modern view of Dutch history and local culture, the unique signature of the hotel has been brought to life by Marcel Wanders, the Dutch product and interior designer.

In addition to the Dutch GaultMillau “Hotel of the Year 2014” award, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht has received several other awards and recognitions since its opening.  Among others, the 5- star hotel has been included in the renowned Condé Nast Traveler “Hot List”, featuring “The World’s Best New Hotels 2013”, and the Travel + Leisure “It list”, presenting “The Best New Hotels 2013”.  Bluespoon Restaurant has received praise for its open and relaxed atmosphere, personal service and inventive cuisine, serving seasonal farm-to-table food.  The celebrated, late Dutch food critic Johannes van Dam awarded the restaurant a score of 9.5, with a special compliment for the bouillabaisse of Chef Julien Piguet.

“It was an exciting and dynamic first year,” said Toni Hinterstoisser, general manager of Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. “The Andaz DNA seamlessly aligned with the rich culture of Amsterdam; Bluespoon Restaurant and Bar offers a meeting place for both international guests and locals, the Spa has a strong regular clientele base and our meeting and event spaces, ‘The Studios’, are used by a variety of companies that find inspiration in our vibrant environment.  We were also able to provide a platform for creativity and emerging talents in the area of arts and fashion. Not only our through our various cultural partnerships and the Andaz Salon Series, but also our permanent video art collection, including 40 unique works from various local and international video artists, such as Ryan Gander, Erwin Olaf and Mark Titchner is an important attribute in this respect.”

And this is just the beginning. Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht will continue making its mark on the international hospitality of Amsterdam, keeping its focus on delivering unique, personalized experiences, home-away-from-home.
