Sandals are putting on their running shoes . .

. . and coming for your MICE events

Paul Tidy is UK Groups and MICE Manager of Unique Vacations (UK) Ltd – otherwise known as Sandals Resorts or Beaches or Grand Pineapple. He was in great spirits at his gathering in London last week, mainly fuelled by the US$5m that have been invested in Sandals LaSource Grenada Resort & Spa. This is the latest of the group’s Caribbean resorts and will be opening officially in December 2013.

‘This is not setting the standard for today’, declared Paul, ‘but for tomorrow.’ LaSource has 225 rooms and suites, three conventional pools and two river pools, fitness centre and spa, a total of nine restaurants and, of course, facilities for meetings. The resort comprises three villages and the flavour can be imagined in that they are named: Pink Gin, South Seas and Italian Village.

As many as 75 suites are served by professional butlers and all the rooms in two of the villages have soaking tubs. Now, before you start clutching your budgets protectively, bear in mind that Sandals is proclaiming itself as ‘luxury inclusive’.

Once again Paul Tidy was exuberant: ‘When we say all-inclusive, we mean all-inclusive – and that does not exclude the luxury elements. All facilities for events are complimentary, from the room to the a-v equipment. Do you pay extra for the welcome cocktail reception? No! For your gala dinner at the endof a terrific stay? No. Are your delegates and award winners restricted to local drinks? No. This is the real meaning of all-inclusive. It isn’t all but with exceptions!’ There are 14 resorts under the Sandals banner in Jamaica, St Lucia, The Bahamas, Antigua and Grenada – with more planned. Watch for a Sandals and a Beaches Resort in Barbados!

They bristle with innovations and ideas to keep the adrenaline flowing for those who enjoy excitement – and they have everything required for the most peaceful of chilling-out relaxation. One of their resorts has Sky Pools – each room facing the sea with a pool on each balcony!

Following the tradition of Cool Runnings, the film which told the story of Jamaica’s entry in the Winterhe Olympics, Sandals can offer bobsleigh rides in the Caribbean, if not on snow. It can also offer catamaran cruises, Sky Rides and Ziplines – and they can all be part of the all-inclusive deal.

Paul is working on arrangements for Fam Trips so that bona fide event organisers can see for themselves what he can offer. He can be reached at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
