Cross the mighty Zambezi river in style on The Royal Livingstone Express

From this month, guests staying at The Royal Livingstone Hotel in Zambia will have the opportunity to board the Royal Livingstone Express and take a new jaw dropping journey across the mighty Zambezi River, almost parallel with the majestic Victoria Falls.

The Royal Livingstone Express is extremely popular with guests staying at The Royal Livingstone Hotel and the reopened route will allow them to get an astonishing new perspective. The train will stop on the bridge and allow passengers to take in the magnificent spectacle and to capture that all important photo of the moment the African sun sets over one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Along with world class views, the Royal Livingstone Express provides a fantastic five star dining experience as it travels through the picturesque Zambezi Valley within the Mosi-Oa-Tunya Wildlife Park. The Pullman style coaches dating back to the 1930’s have been lovingly restored to their former glory creating a sense of nostalgia and adding to the authenticity of the journey.

The train will arrive ‘in steam’ so guests have the chance to capture the perfect photo as it pulls into the station. Once aboard guests will have the chance to spot an incredible array of wildlife, including elephants, white rhinos, buffalos, giraffes and monkeys, before arriving at the falls. A delicious five course dinner, lovingly prepared by the team from The Royal Livingston Hotel, is served in the dining carriages after sunset.

The Royal Livingstone hotel consists of 17 colonial-style buildings with large verandas, set amidst indigenous trees and plants in the 46-hectare National Wildlife Park. From its exhilarating vantage point, guests can view the region’s wildlife, ranging from elephants, crocodiles and hippos to rare species of birds.  The Zambezi River is known as the playground of Africa, which is why the Falls Resort offers an array of activities for guests to enjoy, ranging from safaris on horse back or elephant back, to helicopter flights, abseiling and white water rafting. Zambia’s tourist capital the historic town of Livingstone has become one of the best travelling destinations in Africa and a journey across the Victoria Falls by steam train will surely be at the top of everyone’s ‘to do list'.
