Enjoy a distinctly Knightsbridge afternoon tea at The Park Tower Knightsbridge

Following a complete renovation of the hotel’s public areas which was unveiled in July, The Park Tower Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel, has launched its Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea. Inspired by the iconic hotel’s Knightsbridge surroundings, the exquisite Afternoon Tea is served daily in the beautifully-decorated Knightsbridge Lounge.

Created by The Park Tower Knightsbridge’s renowned Executive Head Chef, Pascal Proyart, guests can savour an exceptional selection of sandwiches, desserts and pastries in a space inspired by nearby Hyde Park.  Taking cues from the diverse flora of the park, the intricate silk wall covering in The Knightsbridge Lounge features a canopy of hand-painted and hand-embroidered magnolia trees, whilst furnishings feature a colour palette of sage greens, milky creams and shimmering silver redolent of Hyde Park’s soft foliage.

For the menu, Chef Pascal has focussed on using high-quality local produce and fine seasonal ingredients, combining elements from his menu at One-O-One, the hotel’s award-winning seafood restaurant, with both unusual and classic flavours to create a modern take on the traditional British Afternoon Tea.

The Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea commences with an Amuse Bouche of Norwegian Red King Crab - a signature dish on the One-O-One menu and an ingredient Pascal is widely credited with introducing to the UK. A delicious selection of sandwiches and savouries follow, including Hot Smoked Salmon and Keta Caviar on Fennel and Raisin Bread; Peppered Beef, Mustard and Watercress on Malted Grain Bread; Coronation Chicken with Corn, Mango and Coriander on Pane con Noci; and a warm Norwegian Red King Crab Quiche Thermidor with Seaweed Butter. Bread for the sandwiches is baked fresh daily, whilst the salmon is cured and smoked in London, the beef is supplied by Surrey Farm and the chicken and mustard are sourced from Norwich.

The highlight of the Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea menu is the stunning selection of dainty desserts.  These include a Shot of Granny Smith Apple local cider with Blackberry Jelly; a Gooseberry and Ginger Tartlet and a Walnut and Whisky Buttercream Cupcake.  Sweet lovers will delight in the Tropical Chocolate Mousse Waffle Cone with Sugared Praline and Afternoon Tea traditionalists will not be disappointed to see the classic butter milk scones, served with Devonshire clotted cream, Orange Marmalade and British Strawberry jam, have not been forgotten.

The jewel in the crown of the desserts is the Petit Choux Pastry Swan, which is inspired by the fauna of nearby Hyde Park. The swan will be a permanent fixture on the Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea menu, with the sweet filling changing seasonally.

To accompany their Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea, guests can choose from a selection of traditional British teas, tisane infusions and oriental teas.  Guests wishing to make the occasion even more memorable can also opt for one of three specially-created Champagne cocktails – a classic Kir Royal with cassis blackcurrant liqueur, a refreshing mimosa with orange juice or a fruit bellini with peach purée.

Alongside the Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea, The Knightsbridge Lounge also serves an indulgent array of hot chocolates.  Developed by local artisan chocolatiers Rococo Chocolates and Chef Pascal, the hot chocolates are made with Rococo’s finest organic cocoa and steamed milk.  Pascal’s flavour combinations include an orange hot chocolate infused with orange zest and oil, a spiced hot chocolate with chilli and allspice and a blackcurrant and vanilla hot chocolate made with herbal tea.

The Distinctly Knightsbridge Afternoon Tea is served daily from 3pm to 6pm in The Knightsbridge Lounge and costs £37 per person.  Champagne cocktails cost an additional £16 each and hot chocolates are priced from £8-£12 each.  For younger Afternoon Tea aficionados, the hotel offers a Children’s Afternoon Tea for £19.50 per child (under 12 years old).
