Leading pro-surfer and four times Portuguese National Champion and European Senior Champion - Azores EuroSurf 2013 Ruben Gonzalez is filmed in action in this documentary. Gonzalez takes on the turbulent waves of the Estoril Coast to become the first surfer to ever ride the Cabo Raso (Flat Cape) wave – uncovering what has, until now, been considered a surfing myth. After years of studying and observing the wave and how to access and surf it, Gonzalez as finally managed to gather the team and the much need financial and promotional support to show the world a new wave. This was one of the most challenging surf successes in Portuguese history due to the size of the wave and the fact that it crashes directly onto the rocky shore, making it inaccessible from the shore line.

The release of the documentary coincides with the recent surfing events in the Cascais region, including the ASP World Tour, which attracts some of the world’s best professional surfers, which once more confirms Cascais and the Estoril Coast’s position as an internationally-recognised surfing destination for professionals, amateurs and beginners alike.

Commenting on Gonzalez’s phenomenal achievement Miguel Champalimaud, General Manager of The Oitavos, states, ‘We are immensely proud to be able to support the production of this documentary along with Cascais Council, MEO, X Cult and Billabong and it is an honour to be working with such a Portuguese hero! Ruben is a surf super star and we feel privileged that he is able to dedicate some of his time to coach our guests who are interested in surfing no matter what their skill level. Being so close to Guincho beach lends itself perfectly to surf professionals and amateurs alike and we look forward to watching our guests develop their skills with Portugal’s top surfer.’
