The Gainsborough Bath Spa officially joins The Leading Hotels Of The World

YTL Hotels’ eagerly anticipated new property The Gainsborough Bath Spa yesterday officially became part of the prestigious The Leading Hotels Of The World group (LHW). The official signing event took place this morning at The Ritz Hotel in Mayfair, London, attended by senior representatives of YTL Hotels and LHW as well as members of the UK press.

Dato Mark Yeoh, Executive Director of YTL Hotels, Mr Andrew Jordan, Vice President, YTL Hotels, Mr. Colin Skellet, Executive Chairman, Wessex Water & Chairman of The Gainsborough Hotel Company, and Ms Deniz Omurgonulsen, Vice President of Membership, LHW conducted the signing ceremony. A briefing presentation on the new property was then given by Mr. Anthony Champalimaud, Vice President, Development of YTL Hotel.

Located within the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath, The Gainsborough Bath Spa is the latest addition to the YTL Hotels global portfolio of luxury properties and will be the sole member of The Leading Hotels of the World in the City Of Bath. Opening in Spring 2014, The Gainsborough Bath Spa will set new standards in luxury accommodation with the exclusive privilege of being the only hotel in the UK to house a natural thermal spa.

As the largest luxury hotel collection, with more than 430 of the world’s greatest properties in over 80 countries, LHW seek out the most exceptional properties which meet their high standards for quality and distinctiveness.

Dato Mark Yeoh, Executive Director of YTL Hotels commented “The Gainsborough Bath Spa is YTL Hotel’s first UK Classic Hotel and will proudly carry on the same tradition of excellence as all of our properties are known for. The YTL Spa Village brand was born in Malaysia at our flagship properties Pangkor Laut Resort and Tanjong Jara Resort, and The Gainsborough will bring our locally-minded healing spa ethos to the UK. I am thrilled to be launching this beautiful property in 2014 and look forward to welcoming guests to experience Bath’s thermal waters with us”.

Ms Deniz Omurgonulsen, Vice President of Membership, LHW added: “We are delighted to welcome The Gainsborough Bath Spa to Leading Hotels of the World. This exciting new opening marks the third YTL Hotels property to join the highly prestigious Leading Hotels of the World portfolio.”

Centrally located in Bath on Beau Street, the 99-room 5-star hotel occupies three listed and historical buildings with distinguished Grade II Georgian façades and the one remaining Elizabethan building. Interiors have been designed by Champalimaud Design, known for their award-winning work on properties such as The Carlyle in New York and The Dorchester in London. The Gainsborough Bath Spa has the exclusive privilege of being the only hotel in the UK to house a natural thermal spa with three therapeutic pools, managed by YTL Hotels’ highly acclaimed Spa Village brand. Spa Village Bath will offer therapeutic treatments with inspiration drawn from the local, famed thermal waters. Its advantageous location is close to the city’s historical attractions, shopping and restaurant districts, leading business and education facilities and a 5-minute walk from the train station.

YTL Hotels, the hospitality arm of one of Malaysia’s most dynamic conglomerates, YTL Corporation Berhad, owns and manages a prestigious collection of hotels and properties worldwide. The international recognition is reflected in the accolades garnered by its world-renowned properties that include being awarded ‘Number One in the World’ from Condé Nast Traveller at Pangkor Laut Resort, ‘Most Innovative Spa’ from Tatler Magazine’s Spa Awards at Tanjong Jara Resort, and ‘Best Spa Experience’ from the Malaysia Spa & Wellness Awards at Cameron Highlands Resort. The Gainsborough Bath Spa will proudly continue this fine tradition and culture of excellence at its unveiling in 2014.
