London Marriott Hotel County Hall introduces Marriott Hotels’ Transformational App for more dynamic meetings

Centrally located on London's South Bank, the luxury 5-star London Marriott Hotel County Hall is the perfect venue for hosting meetings and events and this month the hotel introduces Red Coat Direct, a first of its kind app inspired by people and the power of technology and designed by Marriott Hotels to transform meetings.

Already launched at 40 hotels in the United States the app enables meeting organisers to adjust and edit their meeting requests and preferences with a touch of abutton without ever leaving the meeting room.  Red Coat Direct is the first branded hotel app to grant any meeting wish (within reason) from room temperature adjustments, to coffee refills or having lunch served earlier with an additional vegetarian dish.  By the end of 2014, the Red Coat Direct app will be expanded to the brand’s entire global portfolio of 500 hotels.

“The way people work is more mobile and global, but until now, organising meetings has been stuck in the past.  We are rethinking all aspects of meetings from the physical space to the experience for both attendees and planners, and looking for ways to enable and inspirepeople to do their best work,” said Peggy Roe, vice president, globaloperations services for Marriott Hotels. “Red Coat Direct’s technology allows planners to continually adjust requests without missing a minute of their meeting or keeping other professionals waiting.”

The app is personalised to each organiser’s specific meeting.  Requests can be made up to three days before the meeting and then throughout the meeting.  Once the request is made, it is routed to the event manager and the department that can fulfil the request. The app is available for all internet-enabled devices including iPhone, iPad, Android phones, Kindle Fire and laptops and will be available in 19 languages by 2014’s global roll-out.

Set within London’s County Hall, which was originally built as a seat of government, the hotel has been restored to preserve its original architecture. While retaining its period features andhistoric charm, it also incorporates and offers the latest modern technology and contemporary comforts.

Guests can choose from 11 meeting rooms and event spaces, all of which offer high-speed internet access, air conditioning, controlled lighting and soundproofing. You’ll also have access to the fully equipped Business Centre offering a range of services, including copy, fax, internet kiosk and airline boarding pass check-in.

Celebrating its London heritage, artwork depicting city scenes are featured throughout the hotel. In the corridor near the restaurant there are historical photographs of the County Hall site before, during and after its construction. Embracing the political history surrounding London’s County Hall, many of the private dining and meeting rooms are named after council leaders and chairmen. When constructed, they were created from 1922 offices and committee rooms and still retain their original charm and decorative features.
