The evening marked the finale of Marbella's Philanthropic Weekend, which saw celebrities including Desperate Housewives star, Eva Longoria, show support for three key charities - The Eva Longoria Foundation; the UN-backed SOS Foundation Universal Children's Day - promoting and defending the rights of children and the Marbella Association for Human Rights, which helps local underprivileged families with dependent children, elderly and homeless.
Marbella's five star Gran Meliá Don Pepe played host for the second year running with 330 guests attending to raise €416,000 for the chosen charities. The star-studded evening included red carpet appearances by celebrities including rugby star Thom Evans, American Actor Shemar Moore and MOBO nominated singer songwriter, Nate James followed by a cocktail reception and Gala Dinner by Calima Catering, headed by 2 Michelin starred chef Dani García and dessert by Darcis Marbella. Special live performances were given by Belgian-born pop singer, Lara Fabian and British singer Tallia Storm, amongst others. Following the Gala Dinner at Gran Meliá Don Pepe, guests were invited to attend the official after party at nearby Nikki Beach Marbella.
The Philanthropic Weekend, Marbella, is part of a series of charity events (The Global Gift Galas and Gift Global Initiatives), which take place around the world throughout the year. Other locations have included Cannes, LA and Paris, with further plans for expansion next year.

Eva Longoria, who is a regular guest at Gran Meliá Don Pepe, was at the hotel's official unveiling of its new health clinic on Thursday, 1st August to show support, prior to her official engagements for the Philanthropic Weekend. The clinic has been launched in collaboration with Marbella-based Life & Sun clinic, offering guests a comprehensive programme for optimum living.
