51 Buckingham Gate partners with The National Gallery for new art package

51 Buckingham Gate Taj Suites and Residences and The National Gallery have joined forces to celebrate the upcoming exhibition ‘Facing the Modern: The Portrait in Vienna 1900’ (9th October 2013 – 12th January 2014). The new ‘National Gallery at 51’ package includes accommodation at the five-star luxury central London hotel and special benefits at the Gallery.

Art connoisseurs can enjoy an overnight stay in an urban chic Kings Junior Suite at 51 Buckingham Gate and two tickets to the UK’s first major exhibition devoted exclusively to Viennese Portraiture. This ground-breaking exhibition paying homage to the Vienna Masters will feature paintings by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka and Arnold Schönberg.

The retrospective will cover the 1867–1918 artistic period when Vienna was the multi-national, multi-ethnic, multi-faith imperial capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Remarkable paintings have been brought together from major collections on both sides of the Atlantic such as the Belvedere in Vienna and the MoMA in New York. The exhibition will include the renowned The Family (Self Portrait) by Schiele, Portrait of a Lady in Black and Portrait of Hermine Gallia by Klimt.

Complimentary audio guides will allow visitors to explore the exhibition guided by the museum's experts and, exclusive to 51 Buckingham Gate guests, a 10% discount will be extended for dining at The National Dining Rooms.

Back at 51 Buckingham Gate, in the heart of St James’, guests can unwind in the Library with the hotel’s varied selection of Afternoon Teas or dine at the Michelin-starred Quilon Restaurant, which showcases the finest Southern Indian haute cuisine.

The ‘National Gallery at 51’ package costs from £330 per room per night on a double occupancy basis. It includes one night in a Kings Junior Suite with breakfast, two tickets to the ‘Facing the Modern: The Portrait in Vienna 1900’ exhibition and two audio guides. Guests can also benefit from a 10% discount at lunchtime in The National Dining Rooms.
