Golden Jubilee ranks top 30 in UK equality index

The Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel has climbed 41 places over the last 12 months to number 29, in the prestigious Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI) 2016.
The WEI measures how well an organisation meets the needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) members of staff, and is widely accepted as a good indicator of progress against equality targets generally

The Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel is a member of the Golden Jubilee Foundation family which also incorporates the Golden Jubilee National Hospital , Research Institute and Innovation Centre. The Foundation was named the top Health and Social Care organisation in the UK.

Director of the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, Bronagh Bell said: “It is a wonderful honour to be again praised so highly by the WEI. Here at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, we insist that every guest, visitor and delegate that comes through our doors receives the highest possible standard of service. The only way we can achieve this is by creating a work environment that welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and also actively highlights and celebrates our unique mix of people.”

Jeane Freeman, Chair of the Golden Jubilee Foundation, commented on the announcement: “At the Golden Jubilee Foundation, we value the rich talents, skills and experiences of our diverse staff and they are critical to our provision of the highest standard of care and service for everyone, delivered in an environment that is inclusive.

“Having been the top performing health organisation in Scotland for the past five years, we are delighted now to be recognised as the top performing UK health and social care employer in the Workplace Equality Index. “

First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, added: “Everyone deserves a workplace that is inclusive, where they feel valued and treated equally and where they don’t face prejudice or discrimination.  We know that LGBT people can still have negative experiences at work and that more needs to be done to make sure that everyone is treated fairly at work.  I would urge employers to take part, as we do in the Scottish Government, in Stonewall Scotland’s LGBT role models and allies training programmes and put their learning into practice at work.

“I’d like to congratulate everyone at the Golden Jubilee Foundation on the tremendous achievement of being recognised by Stonewall as the top health and social care employer in the UK.”

Ruth Hunt, Chief Executive, Stonewall said:” The Golden Jubilee Foundation and all of those employers that secured a place in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2016 list performed fantastically this year. We have had more submissions than ever before and so making the list is a huge achievement. I’d like to thank all of those organisations for their continued efforts to ensure that their lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff feel comfortable to bring their whole selves to work and are accepted without exception”.

The Golden Jubilee Foundation has also been highly commended by Stonewall for the work of their network group.
