AlliedPRA New York, a global leader in the destination management company (DMC) sector, was honored with a Site Crystal Award for Powerful Partnerships - Most Effective Team Effort at Producing an Incentive Program or Event at the Crystal Awards Ceremony during the Site International Conference in Beijing, China.

AlliedPRA and its partner, W&O Event Management, collaborated to produce an amazing and memorable motivational experience for the UK division of a luxury automotive brand. The “Luxury Vehicle Principal Incentive” program was designed to inspire Centre Principals to exceed sales goals and earn a trip on the Principal Incentive trip to New York City. The best of NYC was showcased to align with the client’s brand theme of “Create Amazing” and embodied the client’s values of innovation, luxury and customer service. AlliedPRA and its partners exceeded the client’s objectives to deliver a motivational experience to inspire brand loyalty and sales results.

The incentive program objective was to produce an exceptional experience that would shatter the expectations of well-traveled luxury car sales dealers and top executives. Hitting on several New York classics, the incentive program coordinated VIP airport transfers via helicopter to their hotel with views of the classic "big apple" skyline, a customized exclusive experience at Saks Fifth Avenue, a sampling of artisan-crafted goods at Chelsea Market, a behind the scenes Broadway evening and a farewell dinner at a private penthouse. The team carried out all the events with unprecedented services and exclusive access, making each one truly a unique experience.

"Despite the fact that almost every participant had been to NYC before, we were able to create a trip so extraordinary that, for the participants, it was like seeing New York for the first time," commented Chelsie Caruso, Program Manager for AlliedPRA New York. "The collaborative team effort resulted in an incredible incentive trip that motivated attendees to strive for their best work and feel truly valued by their company."

"Teamwork was essential to executing this complex incentive program," shared Patrick Sullivan, president of AlliedPRA New York. It required unparalleled communication and attentiveness to detail to ensure that this trip remained at a VIP level, every step of the way, no matter what the circumstances. Our team is dedicated to finding those unique opportunities to experience the best New York City has to offer and this was a true example of our commitment to delivering one-of-a-kind experiences . I'm very proud of the AlliedPRA team and congratulate the entire staff on another job well-done."

Gold! another win for QHotels' Park Royal

QHotels Park Royal has announced that it has been awarded Gold by Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS), the National Sustainable Tourism Certification programme.
A qualified assessor for the Green Tourism Business Scheme undertook an accreditation grading visit to Park Royal and highlighted the hotel’s recycling and energy saving as key to their gold award win.

The Park Royal’s gold award takes QHotels tally of awards by Green Tourism Business Scheme to an impressive nine Gold awards and 13 Silver awards.

Paul Gallon, General Manager at The Park Royal said: “We are very proud of this achievement. Despite the current economic climate we continue to invest in our hotels and our people to ensure we provide an eco-friendly environment for all of our guests without compromising our customer experience.”

Jon Proctor, the auditor for the business said. “I was very pleased to see the GOLD award passed by our awards committee today; the committee were very impressed with Park Royals green team. The front of house green display has some great features such as local walks, a newsletter and even ideas for drivers on minimising fuel wastage and this is complemented back of house with a great display for staff and some nice features such as local honey (hives are kept in the grounds).

Well done Park Royal and Q Hotels, one of the Europe’s leading hotel brands. We look forward to seeing the site continue to build on this success and remain a leader in our industry.”

The Green Tourism Business Scheme is the only National Sustainable Tourism Certification programme in the UK endorsed by VisitEngland, VisitScotland and VisitWales and has been validated by the International Centre for Responsible Tourism since 2008. Operated by a not-for-profit organisation, Green Business, there are over 2,400 GTBS members throughout the UK and Ireland. Radisson Blu East Midlands Airport named a finalist in European Hotel Design Awards

The Radisson Blu hotel at East Midlands Airport has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious European Hotel Design Awards.
The £22m luxury hotel has been chosen as one of three finalists in the Sustainable Hotel Design category alongside hotels in Athens and Milan. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on November 20.

The award is for a hotel that has used innovative design and architecture and sustainable and environmentally friendly principles to develop a complete hotel design and experience.

Completed on-budget and four weeks ahead of schedule the Radisson Blu hotel at East Midlands Airport in the heart of England opened in October 2011 and was built with a commitment to the highest environmental standards. With its stylish, contemporary design, the 218 room hotel is the most efficient in the Rezidor Group’s European portfolio of over 400 hotels.

The hotel was built by MAG Developments, the property arm of the owner of East Midlands Airport, Manchester Airports Group (MAG).

David Roberts, Property Development Director, MAG Developments, said: “We believe this is the greenest full-service hotel in the UK, demonstrating both our desire to be a premier sustainable developer and MAG Developments’ ability to deliver such a significant project during the current economic climate, on time and on budget.”

Boasting an Energy Performance Certification rating of 2, it produces 87% less in carbon emissions than a conventional hotel because of the integrated environmental efficiencies and technologies included in both its build and operation. The tri-generation combined heat and power plant is powered by recycled cooking oil, whilst the 62,500 litre underground storage surface water tank means the hotel can use grey water recycling for its toilets.

Radisson Blu East Midlands Airport achieved the highest ever BREEAM rating for a commercial hotel in the UK, scoring 76.17% – well above the 70% ‘Excellent’ threshold on the BREEAM scale, used to assess and benchmark the environmental credentials of new buildings. It also attained an ‘A’ rating on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) A+-to-G scale.

A four-star standard ‘Design Hotel’, it has 218 rooms including a presidential suite, eight executive suites and a number of Business Class rooms. The hotel’s airport location is reflected in its aviation theme, most obviously in two, five-storey aluminium clad ‘wings’ forming the entrance canopy while the nearby National Forest is referenced throughout by the use of bird and woodland motifs in its decoration and furnishings.

The full service restaurant uses local produce and is complimented by a welcoming bar area and feature wine room. There are conferencing facilities for up to 500 delegates and full leisure and health facilities including gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms for anybody with energy to spare.
