Warwickshire hotel nationally recognised for its unusual venue and value

A leading period hotel in Warwickshire is seeing double after taking home two accolades at a national industry awards ceremony.
Coombe Abbey’s 21st year as a hotel is proving to be a winner after the 12th century property was presented with two honours at M&IT’s annual industry awards which celebrates and recognises talent in the events industry.

Combining value with a unique space led the hotel to winning Silver in the Best Value for Money Conference Venue category, as well as Bronze for Best Unusual Venue.

Nineteen titles were given out at the national awards ceremony, coordinated by trade and events magazine M&IT, which recognises the best venues, suppliers, agencies and airlines in the industry.

Ron Terry, general manager of Coombe Abbey, said: “Coombe Abbey is a unique building which dates back as far as the 12th century and as such we feel it is important to celebrate its rich history, whilst also providing great value for business and leisure guests.

“The M&IT awards are among the most prestigious for the events industry and to have received national recognition at the ceremony is a fantastic achievement – particularly for a privately-owned hotel.

“We are therefore delighted to have beaten off tough competition to be recognised in both the Best Value for Money Conference Venue and Best Unusual Venue categories, which demonstrate the team’s hard work over the last year to grow the hotel’s reputation as a mark of quality.”

The successes come hot on the heels of Coombe announcing a record year which saw the venue welcome more than 65,000 guests for around 1,500 events - including more than 250 conferences and almost 200 weddings.

To ensure the hotel continues its dramatic growth, Ron Terry said the team is working on a number of exciting developments which they hope will place Coombe Abbey at the forefront of the events industry in the West Midlands and beyond.

He added: “As part of plans to further enhance our facilities and increase business, Coombe Abbey has also submitted a proposal to extend our popular wedding facilities by launching an external wedding venue.

“The venue, which we hope to open later in the year, will be situated in the parkland and will overlook the picturesque lake and gardens – allowing us to provide even more couples with exceptional wedding celebrations.”
