The International Congress and Convention Association, ICCA has awarded VISITFLANDERS Convention Bureau the Best Marketing Award, as one of five winners of its Special Edition ICCA Best Marketing Award 2020, following its 59th Congress, held virtually earlier this month. VISITFLANDERS received the award for its efforts to re-balance the long-term vision for business events with the immediate need to support international congresses in a Covid-safe environment.

Using the situation created by Covid-19, a new set of services and tools for their industry, supply partners and association customers, was formulated to develop the Covid Event Risk Model (CERM). The ICCA jury not only praised the long-term strategy and innovative approach of VISITFLANDERS, but also the collaboration with a range of partners, to create a framework within which conferences can be organised, in a Covid-proof manner.

The Covid Event Risk Model (CERM) and the Covid Infrastructure Risk Model (CIRM) came about in close collaboration with EventFlanders, the Karel de Grote Hogeschool, the Alliance of Belgian Event Federations, as well as the Flemish cities, conference venues and event planners. This far-reaching cooperation means that the Covid Event Risk Model is supported by the entire sector in Flanders and even attracts interest from abroad.

Other ICCA-members that were honoured with a Best Marketing Award were: KINTEX (South Korea), Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Seoul Tourism Organization and The Indian Hotels Company Ltd. VISITFLANDERS is proud to be the only European organisation to have been selected for this award.
