UKCEM Industry Leader Award announced at Fast Forward 15 2016 Graduation

Fay Sharpe, managing director of Zibrant
The UK Centre for Events Management (UKCEM) at Leeds Beckett University presented a special 20th anniversary award at The Langham in London on 29th April. The UKCEM Industry Leader Award was presented to Fay Sharpe, Managing Director of Zibrant at the Fast Forward 15 2016 graduation ceremony by Jackie Mulligan, UKCEM Principal Lecturer and one of the 15 Founding Mentors of the programme.

Jackie Mulligan, Principal Lecturer and Director of Enterprise at the UK Centre for Events Management commented “Fay is one of the industry’s most influential and inspiring individuals who not only has an impressive successful track record as a business woman, but has also given back through supporting boards, events, charitable initiatives and mentoring within her own company.  In 2015 she exceeded her own record by initiating the Fast Forward 15 programme, a nationwide initiative to inspire and empower women to succeed in the events and hospitality business. This award is very well-deserved.”

Fay Sharpe, managing director of Zibrant and founder of Fast Forward 15, added: “To have been presented with such a special award in front of so many friends and colleagues was truly humbling. My passion for the meetings and events industry is as strong now as it was when I first started out over 25 years ago, so to be in a position where I can help give back to and support the next generation through initiatives such as Fast Forward 15 is a great honour.”

The presentation of the new award forms part of the 20 year anniversary celebrations of events management education in the UK that began at UKCEM at Leeds Beckett University. Events this year have included the Big Conversation and #FutureEventProfs Conference at International Confex, presentations at the ICCA Congress, free open access to research papers published through Taylor & Francis and a graduate awards event at the Conference and Hospitality Show in Leeds.
