Hilton London Bankside wins at Splendid Hospitality Awards

Splendid Hospitality Group recently held its annual awards to celebrate its portfolio of 20 hotels and the unique personalities that work there. With a total of eight awards, the privately owned hospitality group designed each category to champion the hotels that continue to innovate, and the individuals who go above and beyond in their role, inspire, support, innovate and are passionate about what they do.

Hilton London Bankside was the recipient of two awards during the evening including ‘Splendid General Manager of the Year’ and ‘Splendid People Hotel of the Year.’ Each award was voted for by peers across the group.

Splendid General Manager of the Year – James Clarke, Hilton London Bankside
The nominations for James for this award all echoed the same sentiment, highlighting his skills as an inspiring leader, the time he takes to speak to members of the team daily – from all parts of the hotel - and his precision in making business decisions. James’ ability to rise to the challenge is another key reason with nominations praising his passion for the role and the success of Hilton London Bankside’s opening year. Speaking about the award CEO of Splendid Hospitality Group Stuart Bailey said ‘I am delighted that James has won this award. Opening a new hotel in the competitive London market is no mean feat and James has led his team with the kind, calm and hardworking attitude that makes him such a popular General Manager. Experiencing the hotel myself I’ve seen first-hand how James engages with his team, checking that everyone is enjoying their role as well as rewarding and developing individuals.’

Splendid People Hotel of the Year – Hilton London Bankside
This award was given to the hotel in recognition of its HR department, led by HR Manager Andrew Gifford. Hilton London Bankside received the most nominations for consistently delivering high levels of engagement across the hotel, the reward and recognition schemes in place and the learning and development programmes aimed at growing team members at all levels of the business into peak performers. Commenting on the achievement General Manager James Clarke said ‘We feel extremely honoured to receive this award, knowing that it is voted for by our peers at Splendid Hospitality Group. This acknowledgement reflects on the brilliant work our HR department does in creating a fun, caring and motivating work environment. I would like to thank Andrew and his team for the initiatives they have put in place including ‘Licence to Recruit’ and ‘Strategic Performance Management’ and above all making each team member feel truly cared for.’
