Shakespeare's England wins prestigious Coventry & Warwickshire Tourism & Cultural Award

Shakespeare’s England, the Destination Management Organisation for Warwickshire, has won a prestigious Coventry & Warwickshire Tourism & Cultural Award along with many of its members. The organisation won the award in the Creative Marketing Campaign category for its successful Shakespeare 400 anniversary campaign. The awards ceremony took place on Thursday 22 September at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. The award win is the first industry award that Shakespeare’s England has won.

Members of Shakespeare’s England who also won awards included The Arden Hotel, Warwick Conferences and the British Motor Museum. Special awards were given to Shakespeare’s Birthday Weekend Celebrations which was won by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the organisations behind the celebrations, The Cross at Kenilworth and Aviva Women's Cycle Tour - Second Stage. This year Shakespeare’s England sponsored the awards scheme in the customer service/team award category which was won by Study Inn, providers of high quality student accommodation in Coventry.  

The awards were organised by the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and Quidem, which owns Touch FM stations and Rugby FM. Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council also supported the awards, which showcased the diverse attractions, venues and experiences on offer in the region.  

Helen Peters, Chief Executive of Shakespeare’s England stated “We are delighted to have won this prestigious industry award. Shakespeare’s England successfully implemented a national and international marketing campaign to promote the 400th anniversary as a reason for visitors to take a break in Warwickshire. Winning this award is a fantastic acknowledgment of how hard the team worked in promoting this region during this campaign”.

Steve Orchard, chief executive of Touch FM, said: “It was great to see such a wide variety of organisations taking time out and coming together to celebrate everybody’s achievements. The standard of entries this year was extremely high, and in some instances, some organisations even had to share awards such was the quality.”
