Meeting Makers have reached the final for the organisation of the 25th Congress of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry on behalf of The British Society of Paediatric Dentistry. Professor Richard Welbury, Glasgow Dental Hospital and School hosted the congress in Glasgow as Chair of IAPD 2015.
The overall scientific theme ‘The Voice of the Child’ was chosen to advocate the changing position of children in our world. Delegates were updated regarding current social theory and policy relating to childhood, the need for safeguarding, and how to engage child-centred approaches within clinical practice and oral health-related research. The goal of the conference was to showcase world-class and holistic dental care for children.
The committee including Meeting Makers worked together for six years to plan and host the 25th Congress. It was regarded a resounding success with most number of delegates (1600), most abstracts (825), biggest congress dinner (630) and most countries represented (60). There was a specially commissioned tartan made for the congress and cartoon characters have become a tradition of the event. For Glasgow, Maisie the Highland Cow was one of the main characters and delegates even had the opportunity to meet some real livestock when they were welcomed by the real Maisie on arrival at the SECC where the congress was held.
Meeting Makers won the award in 2014 for the delivery of the European Hernia Society 36th Annual Congress 2014, so are hoping that once again IAPD will see them triumph at the awards which are to be held at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow on Wednesday 05th of October 2016. Managing Director Clive Thomson commented “We are extremely pleased to once again be nominated for this award as it demonstrates the quality of our services as a PCO. It is wonderful to be recognised for the hard work and commitment of everyone involved particularly Conference Manager Vicki Grant and all her team.
