Patrick Elsmie honoured with special award at the Catering in Scotland (CIS) Excellence Awards 2015

Patrick Elsmie, Gleneagles Hotel Board Director, was honoured last night with a Special Award for Contribution to Scottish Hospitality at the Catering in Scotland (CIS) Excellence Awards. Having served in the hospitality industry for almost 40 years, the one-off award is a credit and testament to his dedication, hard work and success.

Over the course of his career, Patrick has worked across a myriad of roles in the hospitality industry globally, including posts in Hong Kong and Paris. His long and rich history with The Gleneagles Hotel began in the 1980s, during which time he oversaw a large redevelopment of the bedrooms and restaurants before leaving to work abroad. Returning in 1999, Patrick worked his way up to Managing Director, holding the post as the hotel hosted both the G8 Summit in 2005 and a hugely successful Ryder Cup in September 2014. Patrick stepped down as Managing Director in January 2015.

Patrick is committed to high standards of service and places great importance on attention to detail as well as team building and motivational management. Patrick is a member of the executive committee of Leading Hotels of the World and a past Director of Connoisseurs Scotland.

Past Gleneagles recipients of CIS awards include Alan Hill, Director of Food & Beverage, who was recognised in 2013 and has just celebrated his 25th year at the hotel.

Gleneagles was also awarded the Sustainability Award and Best Group Hotel Award. The CIS Excellence Awards recognises and rewards the exceptionally high degrees of creativity, innovation and excellence in the Scottish catering, hospitality and tourism industry.
