Double celebration for Eden as two hotels scoop accolades at national awards

VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2015 Eden award presentation
Two luxury Midlands hotels operated by the Eden Hotel Collection which are hugely popular with conference and meetings organisers have been honoured at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2015.

Brockencote Hall, near Kidderminster, Worcestershire, which has been nominated in the Small Hotel of the Year category for three successive years, finally walked away with the Gold Award on Monday night (May 11) at a glittering ceremony at the Sage Gateshead. Sister hotel Mallory Court, near Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, took Bronze in the same category after being nominated for the very first time.

Commenting on the awards James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive, said “We received hundreds of applications of an exceptionally high quality making the competition for a Gold Award extremely tough.

“It is therefore a tremendous achievement for Brockencote Hall to win a Gold Award, the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow. They have raised the bar for excellence for others to aspire to and I warmly congratulate them on their exemplary contribution to tourism in this country.

“Winning a Bronze Award is also a considerable achievement, especially against such tough competition. Mallory Court is now ranked as one of the top three businesses in their category for excellence in England and I congratulate them.”

The Eden Hotel Collection’s Managing Director, Mark Chambers, said: “Only six hotels across the country were nominated in the Small Hotel of the Year category. To have two of our hotels in the finals was an enormous achievement in itself but to come away with Gold and Bronze is exceptional.
“We’re incredibly proud of our staff and delighted that all their hard work and dedication has been recognised with these awards, which represent the highest accolade in English tourism.”

This year 75 finalists – 15 Gold winners, 15 Silver winners, 15 Bronze winners and 30 Highly Commended – were selected from 345 entries, representing tourism businesses across England. Winners were chosen by a panel of tourism industry experts and chaired by VisitEngland Board Member and Chief Executive of the Blenheim Estate in Oxfordshire, John Hoy.

VisitEngland Chairman, Lady Cobham CBE, said: “The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence celebrate the very best in English tourism and recognise the true champions of our industry. The competition is of an increasingly high standard and so I offer my sincere congratulations to all our winners.”

Success at the VisitEngland awards comes just seven months after the privately-owned Eden Hotel Collection was named AA Small Hotel Group of the Year 2014 / 2015. The collection features eight upmarket luxury hotels located across the South West, Midlands, and the Cotswolds. A ninth hotel is being redeveloped in Salcombe, South Devon.
