Innovative Amsterdam RAI catering concept wins Silver UFI Operations & Services Award 2015

Rientz Mulder, executive chef at Amsterdam RAI
Heart-warming Amsterdam, the regional catering concept of Amsterdam RAI, has won the Silver Award in the ‘Innovative Catering Concepts’ category of the UFI Operations & Services Award, presented by the organisers of the UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry). The RAI concept is aimed at the sustainable use of ingredients produced in the Amsterdam region

The UFI Operations & Services Award is presented to companies that have realised new, innovative, original, effective and sustainable catering concepts. Amsterdam RAI, Suntec (Singapore), and ExCel (London) presented their case studies at the UFI Operations and Services Meeting in London. Participants in the meeting were then invited to vote for their favourite catering concept. Suntec (Singapore) was chosen as the award winner by UFI, with Amsterdam RAI coming in second.

The Heart-warming Amsterdam ingredients are environment and animal-friendly. In addition to promoting local produce, the concept focuses on the sustainability of our wider society. Care farms for outings or education, small local farms, urban greenhouses and dairy farms in the region are seen both as suppliers and an important source of inspiration to the kitchen staff. It is an excellent way to introduce event visitors from around the world to the quality of products found in and around Amsterdam.

“Amsterdam RAI is increasingly focused on proactively supplying sustainable products, services and solutions," says Rientz Mulder, executive chef at Amsterdam RAI. “We continue to renew our catering range to ensure it meets guest expectations, and this includes increasing the sustainability of our products. Heart-warming Amsterdam is a great step in the right direction.”
