2014 marks award-winning year of technological advancements for Royal Caribbean

2014 has seen Royal Caribbean International scoop an array of top industry awards for digital innovation, reflecting the international leisure brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology in all areas of the business and setting new standards for the cruise industry.

The team at Royal Caribbean recently won the Best Use of PR award and The Grand Prix Award for its Google Street View campaign at the prestigious UK Search Awards, alongside Penguin Ahoy: Best Mobile Destination Marketing Solution at the Mobile Travel and Tourism Awards earlier this year.

These industry accolades cement the success of what has been a year of record innovations in all areas for Royal Caribbean. In October the company launched Quantum of the Seas, the world’s first-ever smartship, which includes a series of technological ‘firsts’ at sea to enhance everything from check-in to on board communications and entertainment. The ship also sees the introduction of a new personalised holiday planning app, Royal iQ, which allows guests to manage details during the cruise, providing at-a-glance views of their holiday calendar, and helping keep in touch with each other and home via advanced technology.

The last twelve months has also seen the Royal Caribbean team win a flurry of awards from the consumer and trade sectors that emphasise the quality of experience delivered to customers.

Not only has the brand been named Best Ocean Cruise Line by The Times, Sunday Times and The Times Travel Magazine, Royal Caribbean has also picked up Cruise International’s Best for First Time Cruisers and Best for Families award, the Best Entertainment and Best New Ship – Quantum of the Seas awards at Cruise Critic UK Editors’ Picks Awards and the Virgin Holiday’s award for Best Family Cruise Line.

Stuart Leven, MD at Royal Caribbean said, “These awards are testament to the fact that the team at Royal Caribbean constantly strives to innovate, delight and inspire guests with its holiday experiences.

“As we continue to change category perceptions for new to cruise audiences these honours and advances in technology onboard show that we’re on the right path. We’re delighted to have achieved this level of recognition and are determined to push the boundaries even further in 2015.”
