The award was announced at a glittering ceremony held at Chester Racecourse on Thursday 27th November and cements Peckforton Castle's enduring reputation for excellence in the hospitality industry while adding to its long list of accolades and playing its part in driving tourism to the North West.
The enchanting Grade 1 listed castle, which is Britain's sole remaining medieval style castle, is set in the heart of leafy Tarporley, Cheshire. The subject of an extensive, multimillion pound renovation programme since 2010 which has included the addition of a brasserie, spa and additional bedrooms – an investment that has certainly paid off - the hotel continues to grow its reputation and only four years on it is firmly established as a leading destination hotel and popular wedding and corporate venue.
Speaking on behalf of Peckforton Castle, Managing Director Chris Naylor said, “To win any kind of award is a fantastic achievement, but to win Large Hotel of the Year for a third year running is testament to our passionate and enthusiastic team who commit themselves fully every day to delivering excellence in our guests' experience here.”
Now ambitious plans are afoot to expand Peckforton Castle's model of success throughout the country, through Envestco, co-run by Peckforton's Managing Director Chris Naylor and property developer Dan Lloyd. Envestco fuses Naylor's formidable track record in the hospitality industry with Lloyd's impressive career in property development.
Work at the first of Envestco's major renovation projects began this week at Birkwood Castle in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The second stunning castle in the company portfolio, Birkwood Castle will be transformed with an investment expected to be in excess of £7 million. The extensive programme of works began this week, which saw the removal of various unlisted ancillary buildings on the estate as part of a sweeping renovation of the venue's expansive grounds which will include the development of luxury homes which are already attracting the interest of a number of Scottish footballers.
Given the standards of excellence demanded by Envestco, few will doubt that Peckforton Castle's incredible success will be replicated north of the border. The work at Birkwood Castle, located near the village of Lesmahagow, is expected to be completed in April 2016.
