Steigenberger employee wins recognition for "Best Professional Success"

Maren Schellenberg (27), Head of Convention & Group Sales at the Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt in Berlin, has won a prize in the "Best Professional Success" category at the 15th Worldwide Hospitality Awards. The award is one of the most important in the hotel and restaurant branch and has been recognising outstanding performance for 15 years. This year's prizes were conferred in 18 categories by two expert juries in Paris.

Maren Schellenberg studied business administration, tourism and hotel and restaurant management on an in-service basis whilst completing vocational education and training at the Steigenberger Inselhotel in Konstanz. She went on to expand her expertise in various roles at the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof in Vienna, where she progressed to the role of Convention Sales Manager. She has been heading up the Convention & Group Sales Department at the Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt in Berlin since May. Under her management, the hotel has been able to attract more than 9,000 congress and banqueting participants since it opened its doors.

"We are very proud of Ms. Schellenberg," said Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG. "She was an Egon Steigenberger Prize winner in 2012 and is now once again drawing the world's attention to the achievements of our up-and-coming talent".

The Worldwide Hospitality Awards have been in existence for 15 years and are organised by the marketing research company MKG, a European provider of market studies for the hotel and restaurant branch. The competition is staged at an international level and gives hotels an opportunity to highlight outstanding performance by their staff and teams in the fields of communication, marketing, innovation, human resources, social and environmental responsibility and customer loyalty programmes.
