Head Chef at Edgbaston Cricket Ground wins national Waitrose Cricket Cook Off

Edgbaston Cricket Ground’s Head Chef, Dave Hill has been announced as the winner of Waitrose’s Cricket Cook Off. The competition which ran throughout the summer, saw rival chefs at nine international cricket grounds across the country compete for the top accolade.  
The award underlines Edgbaston’s longstanding reputation for excellence in both match day hospitality and non-match day activities and reinforces the multi-million pound redevelopment programme that was completed in 2011.


Dave Hill impressed the judging panel, made up of former England cricketer, journalist and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selector, Angus Fraser; 2010 MasterChef winner, Dhruv Baker and Chef and Course Manager, Waitrose Cookery School, Gordon McDermott with his Thai-style tiger prawns with rice noodles. After wowing the judges, Dave also gained the most public votes, highlighting his innovative and targeted approach to catering at the world-class stadium.  

All catering at Edgbaston is provided by Edgbaston Experience Ltd, a 12-year-long partnership where Levy Restaurants UK provides retail and hospitality food service at Edgbaston Stadium. Dave oversees all the menus across the retail and hospitality services at the ground along with over 1,000 non-match day events and conferences. The official corporate hospitality is supplied by Keith Prowse, a brand of Levy Restaurants UK.    

This win comes after a successful summer of entertaining at Edgbaston and sets the ground in good stead for 2015's Ashes year.
