Best Western Plus Castle Green wins Cumbrian Large Hotel of the Year

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Castle Green Hotel in Kendal beat off competition from over 30 other entries in the accommodation sector of the Cumbrian Tourism awards last week to scoop the Best Large Hotel of the Year award at a gala dinner for 260 guests hosted by the Hotel; an accolade which celebrates the best Cumbrian hotel with over 35 bedrooms and a 1 – 5 star Visit Britain or AA grading, that also offers both impeccable standards of accommodation and service.

In 2012/3 this 99 bedroom hotel completed a contemporary refurbishment and upgrade of facilities in its bedrooms, public areas and meeting spaces, plus a refurbishment of its popular Alexander’s Pub.  Combined with its ongoing investment in service, these improvements contributed to the Hotel becoming Kendal’s only AA four-star graded hotel last year.

‘Winning this award is hugely important for both our dedicated team and loyal guests.  The team is constantly striving to deliver the best service that they can, and such awards are a great way of recognizing their passion and commitment’ commented MD Tim Rumney.

‘For guests, it tells them that we will not become complacent when it comes to delivering maximum value and quality of service.  I am constantly looking for ways to improve what we do and offer more to our customers.  It’s what keeps us on our hospitality toes!’ he added.

This award continues the Hotel’s string of accolades from last year, when it achieved BEST WESTERN PLUS status, four-star grading with the AA, BEST WESTERN Best Conference Venue and Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold awards, and the Westmorland Gazette Business and Tourism Team of the Year Award.
