Allianz Park, which was the first stadium to achieve a BREAAM Excellent rating in March 2013, was recognised last night for its commitment to sustainability. The stadium was awarded for its ‘four pillar’ approach, comprised of energy efficiency, biodiversity enhancement, transport and waste management and recycling.
Neil Ormondroyd, events director at Allianz Park, says: “We’re honoured to have won this award. It is a fantastic achievement for us as we strive to be the UK’s most sustainable and energy efficient stadium. We are delighted to be recognised for this in the presence of so many industry peers and we would like to thank the judges for this accolade”.
Now in its fifth year, The Stadium Business Awards recognise leadership, innovation & achievement in the delivery, operation and management of sports facilities globally. As well as being a first class rugby stadium, Allianz Park is also a noted events venue, holding a number of sporting and mass participation events, team building events and family fun days. The stadium is set within 26 acres of green open spaces at the gateway to the capital with great transport links to the M1 and the M25.
