Prince Philip House and London Stock Exchange win big at the inaugural Harbour & Jones Awards

Harbour & Jones Award winners
Prince Philip House and London Stock Exchange were double award winners at the inaugural Harbour & Jones Awards, which took place last Friday at The Brewhouse, London Fields Brewery.
Prince Philip House was awarded the prestigious Site Team of the Year title after putting in a solid financial performance, beating their budget for 2013/2014 by 47%. General Manager, Rupert Outram also took home the Leadership award for helping drive home the venues’ outstanding performance over the last year.

Dang Pham, Senior Sous Chef at the London Stock Exchange, was not only awarded Young Chef of the Year but also fought of stiff competition to win the hotly contested Dish of the Year 2014. After making it through a rigorous head-to-head cook-off, his dish was picked to go through to the final, which was judged by industry experts, including Michelin-starred chef Jeff Galvin of Galvin Restaurants.

Other winners on the night, which was attended by over 320 H&J staff, came from Hannah Evans, Sales Manager at Harbour & Jones Events; Mathieu Le Dizet, Events Supervisor at The Royal Society; Darren Archer, Head Chef at RSA House; Aviva Investors and Ashurst.

Patrick Harbour, H&J owner and director, said: “ We couldn’t have been more delighted with the response to the awards, with over 150 nominations. “

“Those who just missed out were vowing to be the winner of one our fabulous trophies next year.  The whole evening embodied our close family spirit and Nathan and I could have chosen from a huge pool of people who were deserved of the Values Award, which was the only category we chose ourselves.”

One of the real success stories came in the form of the compere for the evening, Michael Balogun, a former ex-offender who became involved with H&J through the Clink Charity. When Michael was released from prison in 2012, H&J offered him a full-time job at one of its prestigious London sites, since then Michael has realised his dream of becoming an actor. Currently interviewing for four of the country’s best drama schools, out of 7,000 people, he has made it through to the final round of auditions to become a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Teaming up with supplier partner Bunzl, the awards were sponsored by the company’s newly launched environmentally responsible brand, Sustain, which provides renewable and compostable foodservice disposables. Jascots and Nyetimber also contributed bottles of bubbly for all the winners.
