Holiday Inn Edinburgh strikes Gold in Green Tourism Awards

Holiday Inn Edinburgh has announced that it has been awarded Gold by Green Tourism Business Scheme Awards, the National Sustainable Tourism Certification Programme.
The award highlights Holiday Inn Edinburgh’s commitment to the environment and its focus on ensuring the venue has sustainable operations.

General Manager, Philip Counsell, said: “We are committed to having sustainable operations and we strive to reduce the environmental impact of our business activities. This accreditation is testament to the commitment everyone has put into making the hotel environmentally friendly.”  

Fiona Meikle, Green Tourism Assessor, said: “Holiday Inn has shown a strong commitment to operating sustainably. Recycling is rigorous and there are excellent waste minimisation measures in place. We look forward to following their continued success and hearing more about their future eco-friendly initiatives.”  

Green Tourism, the largest and most established sustainable grading program in the world, assesses its member’s standards against a strict criteria including environmental management and marketing, social involvement, waste and travel. The judging panel personally visit each of its members to ensure they are meeting Green Tourism standards.  

This achievement follows a series of exciting brand announcements from Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) of Company Managed Hotels, including several hotel refurbishments and the introduction of a new Food For Thought conference menu.
