Cranage Hall awarded gold medal for its commitment to going green

Cranage Hall, in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, part of the award winning PH Hotels group, has been awarded a gold medal by the Green Tourism Business Scheme in recognition of its outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability.

Cranage was assessed by qualified grading advisors from the Green Tourism Business Scheme who scored the hotel against a rigorous set of criteria including energy and water efficiency, waste management and biodiversity.

The hotel was also recognised for its support of other local businesses through its innovative North West Farmers Market package. The market is created on a bespoke basis for delegates and includes a wide range of food stalls offering the finest local produce from Cheshire Hog Roast spit roasted in salt and thyme to traditional Cheshire Stew with oatcakes to Cheshire Ice Cream Parlour and a selection of ales from Tatton Brewery.

General Manager of Cranage Hall, Richard Mansell, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded Gold Status from the Green Tourism Business Scheme; we are committed to environmental sustainability and it is great that the hard work of the team has been recognised.”

The Green Tourism Business Scheme has been running since 1997 and with over 2000 members across the whole of the UK and Ireland it is the largest and most established scheme of its type in the world. Its aim is to ensure that the UK remains at the forefront of sustainable tourism in the future. PH Hotels has seen its properties throughout Britain awarded an incredible 19 Green Tourism Awards, one Bronze, five Gold and 12 Silver.
