Launched by Off to Work, the EPAs are designed to be a celebration of the incredible and diverse nature of the events and hospitality industry. The Best Amateur Photography category is open to all amateur photographers, whether event industry professionals or a member of the public.
Entries are judged on technical quality, visual aesthetic, content and general characteristics by a panel of experts including internationally-acclaimed photographer David Loftus, award-winning designer and entrepreneur Paul Daly, editor of Square Meal Venues & Events, Annica Wainwright, and Off to Work Managing Director Philip Atkins.
Chris submitted two photographs to the competition – The Tech Desk and The Get In, which capture the essence of what makes the event industry exciting and memorable.
Winners of the EPAs will be announced tonight (Tuesday April 8) at the London Irish Centre, Camden. All shortlisted and winning photographs will be displayed at the Centre throughout April for the Event Photography Awards Exhibition and at the Square Meal Venues & Event Live exhibition in September.
Chris comments: “I’m delighted my photographs have been shortlisted for the Event Photography Awards. I became interested in photography about 18 months ago after taking some archival photos with our office camera. My role at LSO St Luke’s is so varied I get to see many different aspects of the industry. I wanted to capture this through photography to show people a different side to events – in this case, a back-of-house perspective.”
LSO St Luke’s is one of London’s most stylish venues. The Grade I listed Hawksmoor church provides an ideal backdrop for a wide variety of events including meetings, award ceremonies, drinks receptions and gala dinners.
