BCEC, chosen as the host venue for the G20 World Leaders Summit in November, confirmed its leadership qualities, winning the major venue award for Queensland - Meeting Venue - 500 Delegates or More.
With its award tally now at 140, the AEG Ogden managed Centre also took home the award for best In-house AV Services and for the third year in succession, the Corporate Social Responsibility Award. The Centre was proud to be judged as joint winner in this category with the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Centre is acknowledged as an innovator in its environmental and community work with some 580 staff involved to date in 2,575 hours of community work in the areas of health, emergency relief and disability. The Centre’s kitchens have donated more than 90,000 meals to Foodbank.
The MEA Awards recognise excellence, best practice and professionalism in the meetings industry and serve to showcase Queensland’s strong credentials in the very competitive business events sector.
BCEC General Manager, Bob O’Keeffe said the awards represented the Centre’s commitment to professional excellence and its contribution as a major driver of business events to Brisbane and Queensland. “The world class facilities of the Centre and Brisbane will be on show during the G20 World Leaders Summit later in the year and these awards present an important profile for industry leadership and reputation going forward.”
Bob O’Keeffe congratulated his ‘passionate and dedicated team’ who spearhead the Centre’s award winning event delivery every day, as well as all MEA finalists and state award winners.
Following the state awards, BCEC will now progress to the MEA National Awards to be held in Kuala Lumpur during the MEA National Conference in May.
