Great Hotels of the World members win multiple awards across industry ceremonies

Great Hotels of the World, the London-based hotel sales and marketing alliance, is proud to announce that six member hotels won awards at the World Travel Awards and International Hotel Awards both held in November 2013, as well as during the 2014 Travellers’ Choice awards.

L’Abbaye de Talloires won the “four-and five-star Hotel Customers Trophy Award” for the outstanding quality service provided for the second time, after winning in 2009. The property located on the shore of Lake Annecy is the only one in France to have been handed this award twice.

According to an official statement issued by the hotel: “It’s the people who work there that make this hotel such a special place to stay. This prestigious award is voted by customers only which makes it so important.”

Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel and Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilions respectively won “Sri Lanka’s Leading Resort” and “Sri Lanka’s Leading Wellness Resort”. The two properties are set on the golden beaches of Sri Lanka blending heritage and luxury in a haven of calm and outstanding surroundings.

Jetwing Hotels’ Head of Sales and Marketing, Ishanth Gunewardene received the awards and commented: “Winning the same awards three years running, as well as a brand new one for Sri Lanka’s Leading Wedding Venue is indeed an achievement and I would like to thank all our associates for their hard work and dedication.”

The World Travel Awards rewarded Forte Village Resort in both the “World’s Leading Resort” and “World’s Leading Sports Academy” categories. Set in the middle of 55 acres of Mediterranean vegetation, Forte Village offers guests seven four- and five-star hotels arranged in the style of a traditional Italian village. Many famous sports players have stayed at the resort, including players from Chelsea Football Club and the Wentworth Golf Club. According to the hotel: “These two awards recognise both the excellence and quality of the hospitality at Forte Village as well as the extraordinary sport facilities and wide range of prestigious collaborations that it has to offer.”

Hotel Rangá was awarded the “World’s Best Resort Hotel” at the International Hotel Awards. The four-star property located in the South of Iceland is ideally situated to watch the Northern Lights and explore the Icelandic highlands, glaciers, and volcanoes. Guests consistently find a warm and welcoming atmosphere matching the hotel’s service and facilities.

“Everyone at Hotel Rangá is of course delighted and extremely proud of this recognition by the International Hotel Awards. This tells us that what we are doing something right, and we see this as an encouragement to do even better in the future” said the hotel’s official statement. 

Royal Gardens Villas & Spa won in the “Spain Luxury Hotels” category during the 2014 Travellers’ Choice awards, held on 23rd January. This prize rewards the resort for its standards of elegance and service blended with a stunning setting.

The Traveller’s Choice awards winners were selected based on the reviews of millions of TripAdvisor travellers around the globe.
