St Pancras Renaissance Hotel Assistant Head Concierge, James Elliott, with‘Andy Pongco Award’ 2014
St Pancras Renaissance Hotel has announced that Assistant Head Concierge, James Elliott, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Andy Pongco Award’ for 2014, at the 61st U.I.C.H Les Clefs D’Or International Congress in Kuala Lumpur.

James was selected by ‘The Society of Golden Keys’ to represent Great Britain and the Commonwealth at the annual Congress, and St Pancras Renaissance Hotel has been actively supporting him in the lead up to this international event.

The Andy Pongco Award was established at the 55th U.I.C.H International Congress in Denmark in 2008 to honour the memory of Andy Pongco (an international honorary president). The Award recognises and encourages younger members to become active participants in the global network. Candidates are put forward by their individual countries (via The Society of Golden Keys). The U.I.C.H encourages all countries to present profiles of capable young members. Once selected, candidates must complete an exam (about the history of Les Clefs d'Or, geography and general hotel knowledge), write several essays (on their interest in the profession and aspirations) and finally, have an interview with members of the Andy Pongco Committee at the congress.

Previous winners of the Award include associates from Intercontinental Moscow, Rosewood Hotel Georgia and Sheraton Hotel Taipei. Candidates presented for this year’s 2014 Award comprised employees from Four Seasons Hotel in Washington DC, Hotel Casa Fuster in Barcelona and Hyatt Regency in Dusseldorf.

The award is an incredible coup for both James and the hotel. In his new role, James will help educate and inspire a new generation of youngsters starting out within the industry. Having developed a network of contacts across the world, he is also in an even stronger position to look after international guests staying at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.

St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is incredibly proud of James for winning this prestigious award. Salvatore Bartolone, Head Concierge, said “James is the most talented young Concierge I have worked with during my 28 year career. It has been a pleasure to mentor him and his award will be a great source of inspiration for the concierge team here at the hotel. I am so proud the skills and talent he demonstrates on a daily basis have been recognized by the U.I.C.H Les Clefs D’Or”.
