IHG win 'Best Use of Social Media in Marketing'

The Hotel Marketing Association recently announced the winners of the 20th Annual Hotel Marketing Association Awards 2013. The prestigious awards were presented at a special awards ceremony, hosted by The Savoy on 16th December. 

Intercontinental Hotels Group UK & Ireland won the award for 'Best Use of Social Media in Marketing' Their social media strategy was to deliver brand preference and engagement across 65 local hotel websites whilst supporting the growth of SEO traffic.

A unique social media profile was created for each hotel, enriched with locally relevant content and information which complimented their local websites and helped provide an orchestrated web journey for visitors.

The judges said the winning entry showed that a big brand can bring localisation to social media and were impressed at the way the campaign successfully combined social media with SEO to drive traffic to their website.

David Collyer, Director of Marketing UK & Ireland said "We are especially proud of this award as not only did this year see a record number of entries but we were up against some of the best in the industry. Social Media is an integral part of our marketing strategy and continues to be a focus to drive brand preference and commercial performance for our business."
