Grand Central Hotel’s Sous Chef represents Scotland in this year’s Mövenpick Gourmet Dessert Chef Of The Year Award

The only Scot to make the final six contestants, Paul will take part in a cook off on 12th September 2013 at Westminster Kingsway College in an attempt to win the title.
Paul (38) from Coatbridge is a Sous Chef at Grand Central and passes on his extensive knowledge as a chef lecturer at Cumbernauld College.
The Grand Central staff will be backing Paul during the final cook-off and are delighted to have one of their very own chefs recognised for such a prestigious award.
Laurie Nicol, general manager of Grand Central Hotel said: “It’s exciting to have one of our chefs shortlisted for the Mövenpick Gourmet Dessert Chef 2013 title. I would like to wish Paul the very best of luck in the cook-off next month.”
The cook-off is sure to be an exciting and exhilarating experience and involves the creation of a unique and creative dessert. The judges are looking for recipes that incorporate interesting flavours, contemporary presentation and the innovative use of Mövenpick ice cream.
Paul Clark said: “I am delighted to have been shortlisted for The Mövenpick Gourmet Dessert Chef of the Year 2013. I’m looking forward to creating my ‘Rice pudding with Mövenpick raspberry sorbet, Biegnet and Fior di Latte milkshake’ for the final in September – it’s a great honour.”
The competition, launched in partnership with Craft Guild of Chefs, aims to showcase the creative talent from the hospitality industry. The chef who is crowned Gourmet Dessert Chef of the Year will win a luxury weekend for two at Lausanne, Switzerland, the home of Mövenpick ice cream. Two runners-up will win a £200 voucher for a restaurant of their choice.
