Highlights have included The BRIT Awards, National Television Awards, and the Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards 2016, which was the largest ever seated dinner in the arena with over 1,600 guests.
The venue has also hosted an average of 4,000 guests at a number of more intimate award ceremony venues; indigo at The O2 and Building Six. Ten events have already taken place this year, including The Running Awards, O2 Awards, The Academy of Fabulous NHS Staff Awards, Golden Joystick Awards, Student Radio Awards (supported by BBC Radio 1), Executive PA Magazine Awards, TEDX Teen Awards and The Wharf Property Awards.
Becci Thomson, Business Development Manager at The O2, says: “It has been fantastic to welcome over 35,000 guests to The O2 to celebrate under our iconic roof. We have seen a marked increase in the number of awards ceremonies we host with organisers recognising the venue as one that can provide a spectacular and memorable evening.
“There are very few venues in London that are able to cater for both large and smaller scale events. At The O2 we are able to accommodate seated dinner award ceremonies of 1,000 – 2,000 guests in our world-famous arena, as well as smaller, more intimate celebrations in spaces such as indigo at The O2 and Building Six. As we build our reputation as the venue of choice for awards ceremonies we expect to welcome even more events of this type in the coming years.”
