The most important meeting in the bicycle sector in SpainUNIBIKE 2016 will be opening its doors for its third edition between 22-25 September. The International Event for Bicycles, organised by IFEMA and AMBE, will present professionals and the general public with a showcase of more than 500 brands from the bicycle sector. An event that is especially dedicated to visitors that are looking to be offered attractive activities to get involved in to a greater extent compared with previous years.
Halls 12 and 14 of Feria de Madrid will host the big event for the bicycle industry, for which more than 180 companies have already confirmed their participation for the time being. In this sense, UNIBIKE 2016 will once again be the best showcase so that the sector presents the latest trends and designs with a view to the coming year to professionals and the general public. As a response to the need of participants, the event, which will once again be presented in a mixed fashion, extends the duration of the event by one day, opening its doors exclusively to professionals on 22-23 September, and to the general public at the weekend, 23-24 September.
Activities to get involved in
This meeting, which is more active and dynamic if possible, will be characterised by the wide range of activities on offer that visitors can get involved in and that are related with bikes and cycling. Indoor activities (inside Hall 14), like a Children's bike circuit for children under 8 years old will be available, offering children different models and sizes of bikes so that they can try them out on a simple and fun circuit. Furthermore, the main brands of electric and city bikes will let people try out their new models on the ebikes and city bikes circuit, which is a closed circuit 400 metres long with a large ramp to try out the features of the bikes.
Outside, the Boulevard area will host the Cofidis charity cycling event, which is a fund-raising initiative that combines cycling and support for social causes and which, with the collaboration of visitors, will contribute funds to charities with promotional projects for sporting activities. There will also be Looping Bike, an impressive and spectacular circular ramp on which, with the help of a bicycle, 360º loops can be achieved. And the Road Safety Circuit that aims to promote positive and safe behaviour among the little ones present.
In the Central area of activities, located on the forecourt of Hall 12, visitors will be offered the chance to experience an amazing experience in the Fatbike Demo Circuit, 300 linear metres that will include a line of logs, a sandpit, a section with oil waves and wooden blocks. In addition, children aged between 7 and 12 will also be able to try out the Children's Fatbike Circuit available, so that they can experience the sensations too and the possibilities of these innovative bikes. There will be space for the Pump Track BMX, MTB and Scooters, a fun and complete circuit suitable for all levels (aged 16 and up), where curves and slopes link together at high speed.
To complete the UNIBIKE activities on offer, the XIV Cycle Tourism Event for the Community of Madrid, 106 km in length, will be held on Sunday 25 September, which sets out from and returns to IFEMA, expecting to have almost 500 participants.
UNIBIKE 2016 offers visitors a bicycle parking area that will be supervised at the main door of Hall 12 and, for the first time, it proposes the inclusion of an MOT BIKE area where bikes can be checked out and repaired, both services being offered for free for all visitors to the event.
Running at the same time, AMBE -the Association of Brands and Bikes in Spain- will be organising a series of presentations, panel discussions and conferences. In this sense, in the scope of the UNIBIKE FORUM, interesting conferences and panel discussions will take place discussing trending products, tourism and bicycles, mobility and urban cycling and latest trends.
With the aim to offer access to the event to the largest possible number of cycling fans, UNIBIKE makes an adjustment to its entry prices offering them at 8 euros, and also offers special rates for families and groups (6 euros per person). In addition, there is free entry for children under 12 years old.
After the good turnout from last year, UNIBIKE once again dedicates a space specifically to Cycle Tourism and will offer professionals and the general public an exhibition space with a variety of destinations, products and services related with cycle tourism in Spain. Similarly, it will host a Forum with a complete programme of technical conferences discussing cycle tourism.
Similarly to what was offered in the last edition, to complement this section of the event, Turespaña and the General Tourist Board of Extremadura organise a FramTrip that will bring tour operators to the trade fair from different countries, who will have the chance to learn first hand about the diverse areas and routes available throughout Spain. On this occasion, the region to be visited will be Extremadura, where they will be able to enjoy the marvellous natural sites like the “Geoparque Villuercas- Ibores- Jara”, “La Vía de la Plata” and the “National Reserve of the Monfragüe Biosphere“ as well as spots of great historic and artistic value, like the Real Monasterio de Santa María de Guadalupe (Heritage of Humanity), the beautiful monumental city of Plasencia, or the Sephardic legacy in the Jewish District of Hervás.
Furthermore, on Friday morning they will visit the event and this will give them the chance to take part in a workshop, a trading desk, and to meet with the different exhibitors of this space.
UNIBIKE therefore provides an important platform that contributes to the development of Cycle Tourism and an opportunity for the great potential that Spain has in this sector to be properly showcased.
Organised by IFEMA and AMBE, and promoted by Last Lap and Expobike Solutions, UNIBIKE 2016, the International Event for Bicycles, is sponsored by Cofidis, Iberdrola and Mercedes-Benz, and it will be holding its third edition in Halls 12 and 14 at Feria de Madrid.
