First launched to the market in November 2015, Conference Week has seen the arena diary cleared for a week in September highlighting the venue’s ability to host large-scale corporate events across multiple days. Billed as the first dedicated week for corporate events since opening in 2007, it also sees the venue’s range of smaller event spaces reserved for more intimate corporate meetings, breakout sessions and team building.
Since launching the initiative over £1m worth of enquiries have been generated and four brand new arena business wins have been confirmed. In the last year The O2 has held corporate events for a range of clients including St James’ Place, Thomson Reuters, Mastercard and Pret e Manger and awards ceremonies including The National Television Awards, Golden Joystick Awards and BRITs in addition to hundreds of music, sports and comedy events.
Steve Sayer, Commercial Director at The O2, commented: “The O2 is uniquely geared to inspire, motivate and educate conference delegates in the capital of cutting edge. Conference Week underpins our commitment to the important corporate events sector. Clearing our diary for the first time in this way really highlighted our commitment to the marketplace. We’ve been so impressed with how the initiative has been received and the enquiries and bookings taken off the back of it across the year, that it makes perfect sense to make this an annual event in our calendar.
“Our clients know we can accommodate a range of events at any time and that we’re always open for corporate business but celebrating our corporate offering during September in this way is winning us new leads and clients.”
Tracy Halliwell, Director of Business Tourism & Major Events at London & Partners, said: “The O2 is an iconic London landmark, alongside being a standout venue for meetings and events. Dedicating a week specifically to conferences is a fantastic proposition for the venue and will help showcase the diverse offer of The O2 for both consumer events and corporate activities.”
Conference Week runs from 4 – 11 September 2016 and will be repeated during the same week in September 2017.
The O2 arena space can accommodate events from 3,500 people up to 15,000 delegates with multiple spaces across the campus for smaller meetings, conferences and launches.
