Leading trade fair for carpentry and roofing presents tradition and technological innovation of the trade

DACH+HOLZ International has further strengthened its European profile thanks to the catchment area of Stuttgart, where, close to home, roofing contractors and carpenters from the Alsace, South Tyrol, Switzerland and Austria meet every four years to learn about tradition and technological innovation in their trades.

Robert Schuster, Project Manager of DACH+HOLZ International, explains: “The transport connection to the airport and motorway from the exhibition grounds is excellent for our numerous visitors from throughout Germany and abroad”.

Held for the third time in Stuttgart, DACH+HOLZ International, which ran from 2 to 5 February 2016, presented everything that craftsmen, planners and architects need to know when it comes to building envelopes, roofing and interior construction.

With 550 exhibitors, 20 percent of which came from abroad, the 5 exhibition halls spanning 65,000 gross square metres were fully booked. The modern and intelligent architecture of the grounds allows large congresses to be held as supporting events for trade fairs.

“The ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart is just a few metres away from the halls, which is ideal for our Superwood architecture congress, for example. With the halls just a short distance away, around 800 architects combined their congress visit with a tour of the exhibition”, reports Schuster.

As guest organiser, it is always crucial to work together on site with contact partners who know the grounds and its features like the back of their hand.

“Whether for guest event, transport or security, all departments and service providers at Messe Stuttgart help in an efficient and uncomplicated manner to accommodate the wishes and suggestions that we have as the exhibition organiser, or those of our customers – namely the visitors and exhibitors. This willingness of many people behind the scenes to support us around the clock, thereby relieving the burden on us, is a key success factor for the exhibition”, believes Schuster.  This is precisely why the organiser of DACH+HOLZ International, GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH, which is headquartered in Munich, has decided to hold DACH+HOLZ International again in Stuttgart in 2020.

By that time, the host – Messe Stuttgart – will have increased its capacity with another hall. Various technologies presented at DACH+HOLZ International will be directly used in this construction project: roof greening and photovoltaics are now already trademarks of the Stuttgart Messe architecture. With construction of the tenth hall, for which the foundations were recently laid, the timber construction will show its more modern side: around 14,500 square metres of hall space traversed by wooden beams are currently being built.
