Messukeskus Helsinki hosting world's biggest Allergy Congress in 2017

Messukeskus Helsinki

In June 2017 Messukeskus Helsinki will host the world’s biggest annual meeting in the field of allergology and clinical immunology.

Almost 8,000 guests are expected to attend the annual congress of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and the event is estimated to generate over 15 million euros in tourism income.
The annual meeting of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology is one of the biggest international scientific congresses ever held in Finland. Helsinki appealed to the jury by its long-term international cooperation with the EAACI and Finnish experts. In addition, the renewed premises and state of the art technical and digital services of Messukeskus made an impact when the selection was made.

Helsinki was a candidate for the congress already twice before and this time the long term cooperation with the Helsinki Convention & Events Bureau and Finnish experts in allergology bore fruit.

– Messukeskus takes pride in the fact that our efforts finally paid off. With the help of our renewed facilities and improved technical and digital services, we are able to meet the high standards of the EAACI. We offer a well-functioning venue with easy access to both lectures and the exhibition. Networking with colleagues is also easy at our renewed premises, states Congress Manager Susanne Massingberd-Roinila from Messukeskus Helsinki.

The EAACI congress and its speakers represent the best of scientific research in the field of allergology and clinical immunology. Visitors are researchers and specialists from over 100 countries. The programme addresses the mechanisms, diagnostics and care of allergic disorders such as asthma, food allergies, atopic dermatitis and allergic rhinitis. The president of the congress is Professor Antti Lauerma from the HUS Skin and Allergy Hospital.

According to the latest international statistics, Helsinki is number 18 on the list of most popular congress cities in the world. Helsinki offers expertise in many fields of research and has an immaculate reputation, excellent traffic connections and high-quality services.

Messukeskus Helsinki promotes Finnish welfare by enabling effective face-to-face encounters at exhibitions, meetings, conferences and other events. In 2014 Messukeskus Helsinki hosted 1,500 meetings and congresses, and attracted altogether 1,1 million visitors to different events. The Conference Centre has 40 meeting rooms of different sizes and the Amfi Hall auditorium, which seats 4,400 people.
