American Airlines invites Londoners to watch summer sporting action, live from Canary Wharf

The world’s largest airline brings the magic of Rio to the Capital

Don’t let the nine-to-five get in the way of enjoying this year’s sporting action live from Rio. On 18th August from 14:00-20:00pm, join American Airlines as it transforms Canada Square in Canary Wharf into the Capital’s first-choice destination to enjoy a summer of sports.

Soak up the atmosphere and cheer on your sporting heroes with live coverage from Rio on a 21sqm screen, boasting 4.8 pixels and epic sound quality.

To add to the excitement, American Airlines will be offering lucky spectators a chance to win a host of prizes including return Business Class tickets with American to Rio de Janeiro; return Main Cabin flights to North America; Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones; theatre tickets and a range of sporting paraphernalia to energise the crowd.

American, the world’s largest airline, has serviced Brazil for 26 years and offers up to 12 daily flights to five destinations across the country including Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and Manaus, via US hubs including Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas Fort Worth and New York.

Customers travelling with American throughout August can also tune in to the action from Rio and other sporting events live from 35,000 feet, using inflight Satellite TV capability available on select aircraft.

Live television broadcasting is just one of the enhancements as part of American’s $3 billion investment in planned improvements, to provide customers with a superior travel experience. These investments include fully lie-flat seats on long-haul aircraft; Wi-Fi; more in-flight entertainment options and power outlets; and a new, modern design for our Admirals Club lounges worldwide including São Paulo.
