bmi regional extends partnership with Brussels Airlines

Today, bmi regional adds seven new routes to its network thanks to an agreement extending the carrier’s codeshare partnership with Brussels Airlines.  Routes from the Great Britain, Northern Ireland and France will go on sale via bmi regional’s website and call centre from 1 August.

bmi regional travelers will now be able to book onto flights operated by Brussels Airlines from London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Belfast and Nantes in Northern France to the Belgian capital.  This move further strengthens relationship between bmi regional, and Brussels Airlines, who first agreed codeshares on two routes to Brussels in 2014, from East Midlands and Newcastle.

The codeshare agreement means passengers can now book the following services operated by Brussels Airlines via the bmi regional sales channels:
London Heathrow / Brussels – three flights daily in both directions
Manchester / Brussels – four flights daily in both directions
Birmingham / Brussels – four flights daily in both directions
Bristol / Brussels – three flights daily in both directions
Edinburgh / Brussels – three flights daily in both directions
Belfast / Brussels – daily flight in both directions
Nantes / Brussels – twice daily flights in both directions

Bmi regional clients travelling on Brussels Airlines have the choice between 3 different Brussels Airlines travel solutions: bizz&class, flex&fast and light&relax.

Jochen Schnadt, Chief Commercial Office for bmi regional, commented, ‘The extension of our codeshare agreement with Brussels Airlines means that our passengers now have a range of new routes into Brussels.  We are delighted to build on our existing collaboration, supporting both the airline and Belgium in accessing a new audiences in the UK and beyond.  Brussels Airlines and bmi regional share similar values, we are business powered, full-service airlines who put great store by customer convenience and delivering a quality experience.’

“We have developed over the last years a successful commercial and operational partnership with bmi regional and this extended codeshare cooperation is a logic next step”, says Brussels Airlines Vice President Commercial Benelux, Europe and North-America, Frederic Dechamps. “This collaboration is once more an illustration of the importance we give to the UK in our growing network. We look forward to welcoming the bmi regional clients on board our Brussels Airlines services.”

Brussels Airlines has a fleet of 50 aircraft flying to 92 European, African and North American destinations, operating about 300 flights a day, meaning there are huge opportunities for onward connections for bmi regional customers.

This extended collaboration comes after a busy few months for bmi regional which have seen major growth in their route network and flight frequency, as well as pricing and product innovations.  Earlier this year they launched four new routes from Munich, effectively establishing the Bavarian capital as a second European hub after Bristol.  New routes launched were to Southampton, Milan Bergamo, Rostock (Germany) and Norköpping (Sweden).   The airline has also created new ‘fare family’ enabling customers to book a flight package that suits their individual needs whether that be flexibility, hold baggage allowance or enhanced services such as fast track security and lounge access.
