First European Cabin Service Conference a success

On 11 September, the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) organised Europe’s first Cabin Service Conference. A large crowd from different continents attended the Brussels event, spanning cabin crew, caterers and also pilots.

Under the theme of Educate, Motivate and Network, expert speakers addressed such topics as integrating the added-value that cabin crew bring to business aviation flights and the importance of working with the flight deck and ground staff for the well-being and safety of the passengers.

A highlight of the event was the inspirational keynote address on teamwork delivered by US Air Force Thunderbird Demonstration Team Commander Ron Mumm. Other keynote speakers included: Dianora Consulting & Support Manager Diane Peeters; Air Culinaire Worldwide Vice President of Flight Attendant Services John Detloff; and sajet solutions President and Founder Scott Arnold.

With safety and training being key factors to the viability of the business aviation sector, the EBAA understands the essential role that cabin crew bring to the equation. “Cabin crew are safety professionals who wear many hats,” said EBAA CEO Fabio Gamba. “Whether wearing the hat of a fire fighter, medical assistant, police, referee or life saver – cabin crew play an important role in ensuring the safety and security of business aviation passengers.”

The EBAA broadly defines cabin crew to include anyone involved with cabin duties. Whether a pilot, engineer or dedicated flight attendant, all cabin crew have a duty to operate in accordance with best practices and stay current in their training. “This European Cabin Service Conference is a good first step towards achieving this,” concluded Gamba.
